Norwich University of the Arts Repository Information

Norwich University of the Arts is a dynamic, modern and creative community providing arts, design, architecture and media education from a unique campus at the heart of the city’s cultural quarter. Whilst the institution’s history can be traced back to 1845, it is contemporary and forward thinking with industry standard facilities. The University has two Faculties (Design and Architecture; Arts and Media) and a rich portfolio of postgraduate provision. Its mission is to be the best specialist University for Arts, Design, Architecture and Media study in Europe, producing graduates of the highest quality.

The ethos of a specialist academic culture underpins Norwich University of the Art’s Strategy for Research (2015-2020), which focuses on generating new forms of creative practice and pedagogy informed by critical and cultural perspectives. While maintaining its strong reputation for research in Fine Art practice, theory, history and curation, NUA is concentrating on growing research in, for example, Illustration, Film, Games Design, Fashion and Architecture. Three cross-disciplinary University Research Themes (Pattern and Chaos; Created and Contested Territories; Human Interfaces) form the beacons around which research activities at the University are gathered. Interwoven across these themes is a commitment to pursuing pedagogic research in, and for, arts, design, architecture and media and to developing new knowledge around creative learners and learning.
